ICE OUT OF CALIFORNIA

Our coalition organizes across the state to identify, strategically disrupt, and ultimately end entanglements between California law enforcement agencies and Immigration & Customs Enforcement (ICE).

Current Immigrant Rights Laws in California

The California Values Act (SB 54) protects the safety and wellbeing of all Californians by limiting use of state and local resources for mass deportations and ensures that important institutions such as schools, health facilities, and courthouses remain accessible to everyone. SB 54 remains legally binding state law, and states and localities continue to have the constitutional right to opt out of federal immigration enforcement.
The TRUST Act (AB 4) limits local jails from wastefully holding people for extra time solely for deportation purposes. The TRUST Act helps keep families together, save local resources, and boost community confidence in local enforcement.
The TRUTH Act (AB 2792) provides vital information to our immigrant community members who are in ICE's cross-hairs regarding their rights and increases transparency about local law enforcement participation in immigration enforcement.

If you think you see ICE in your community:

Contact your local rapid response network!

Rapid response networks respond to Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) detentions and raids in our communities and provide support to immigrant community members facing detention and deportation. Many California counties have a local rapid response hotline available 24/7. If you or a loved one see ICE in your community, contact a local rapid response network immediately. Do not share unverified information. We must build power — not panic.

When contacting your local rapid response network or other entities about potential ICE sightings, make sure to include as much specific information as possible, including the time, location, type, and size of the ICE activity.

All Californians deserve safety and opportunity.

Donald Trump has made it abundantly clear that his administration is dedicated to unleashing abuse and terror against our immigrant neighbors -- a campaign of hate based on vile lies and distortions. Meanwhile, private prison corporations’ stock skyrockets as they stand ready to profit off of our community members’ suffering.

To these cruel attacks, we are responding with strength, determination, and love for each and every person who calls the Golden State home. As we have done for over two decades, we will continue to vigorously defend our state’s sanctuary policies, which are legally sound, morally necessary, and provide essential protections against Trump’s abuses and benefit all Californians.

Picture
ICE Out of California (IOOCA) is a statewide coalition of community organizations, advocates, and community members organizing and advocating to defend Californian immigrant communities from detention and deportation by working to disrupt and end local law enforcement collaboration with Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). IOOCA has advocated for inclusive statewide legislation since 2011 and led efforts to pass the California Values Act (SB 54) in 2017.
