Spying centers exposed. SB 1095 (Perez), “Expose Data Deportation Centers,” just passed out of the California Senate Privacy Committee moments ago. Nicole Ozer, who leads the Center for Constitutional Democracy at UC Law San Francisco and is the incoming ED of the Electronic Frontier Foundation, explained in the Sacramento Bee late last year: SFPD stood guard for ICE. City residents demand answers. As videos spread of ICE agents forcibly seizing a mother and her young daughter at SFO, community members and attorneys were outraged by SFPD’s complicity and violation of the city’s sanctuary ordinance.
On Wednesday, the FREE SF coalition filed a complaint against SFPD with the Department of Police Accountability, as well as a public records request seeking any communication between ICE and SFPD related to the violent arrest on Sunday. |
